Edit an image using the laptop and your desktop will just 'see' the edit. Stores sidecar files for edit metadata which means that you can stick the photos on a network drive and have several people viewing or editing the files at once (I think). Does't need a catalogue database but still 'catologues' your photos for searching etc.

Seems the Sony offers the best of both worlds- full frame sensor and small(ish) size. So I've been thinking of consolidating my Nikon D750 + Tamron 24-70 2.8, and all my M43 gear (Panny G80, 14-140 Power OIS, Summilux 25mm 1.4, Olly 45mm 1.8, Panny 100-300 II) into one camera- Sony A7iii + Tamron 28-75mm 2.8).
